Discover a New Way to Clean: Microfiber Cloths. How To Use Them

March 24, 2021 by Gabe

What are microfiber cloths made of? What does the term “microfiber” mean? It’s a material made of a mixture of extremely thin polyester and nylon fibers. Its fibers are 10 times thinner than silk and 100 times thinner than human hair. It’s used in the textile industry and household and is valued for its very high durability. Furthermore, it’s extremely hard to damage! Consumers are increasingly choosing microfiber cloths, when completing their home cleaning collections. It’s a very good choice, when it comes to ecological aspects. Why exactly?

Paper towels vs microfiber cloths

As mentioned above, a microfiber cloth can really withstand a lot. It’s quite indestructible. As a result, it’ll serve us for a long time! The situation is quite the opposite in the case of alternatives frequently chosen by consumers – it’s about paper towels. Their use contributes to the increase in the amount of garbage, which is still in abundance on landfills. The microfiber cloth, in turn, is perfect, when it comes to reusable use. And it’s universal! What are microfiber cloths used for?

Multiple uses

You spilled something? Microfiber cloth will deal with it without any problems. It absorbs substances easily and effective. It’s documented, it has an ability to hold up to 7 times its own weight in water. Therefore, it’s especially recommended buying microfiber mops. Their use is therefore much more effective than in the case of paper towels, which often have to be used a lot to deal with the liquid spilled in our kitchen.

In addition, microfiber has the ability to retain dirtiness in its fibers. So we’ll avoid spreading everything on the surface we wipe with it. Scientifically, they use friction, capillary effects and static energy to trap and remove such substances as dust, dirt, oils and bacteria. The dirt will remain in the cloth until we wash it. Microfiber very often copes with dirt without the need for additional detergents. So you save your money. All you need is a microfiber cloth and water. That’s how do microfiber cloths work. This is the right moment to answer the question – how to wash microfiber cloths?

Using standard laundry detergent may shorten the life of the cloth and make it stiff and rough. Also, don’t use any fabric softeners, because they clog the fibrous material and reduce the properties of the microfiber. High-temperature washing is recommended. It’ll open the fibers and release dirtiness. An alternative is to soak them in hot water in a sink or bowl and let them dry. This is enough to clean the microfiber cloths.

In addition to absorbing water, microfiber cleaning cloths are great for dusting! This is because of the absorbing properties, which can remain dirt inside the fibers. And that’s still not all! It’s hard to polish glass satisfactorily, isn’t it? Microfiber cloths are great for this. They easily eliminate streaks and leave the glass surfaces shiny. The same goes for window cleaning. No more scrubbing.

The microfiber material is very soft, so cloths are also very useful in cleaning surfaces such as marble, stainless steel and granite.

Which microfiber cloth is best to choose?

Benefits compared with using microfiber cloths are invaluable. Their absorption capacity and the possibility of using them in many areas related to cleaning household are worth considering. It’s also worth thinking about which products of this type are best to choose. Remember that not every material that claims to be microfiber is actually microfiber. Offers from proven producers seem to be the best option. Click here to see some checked products available in the market.

Maybe it’s high time to get rid of the old-fashioned paper towels and try some greener and multi-functional options. Not only will the environment be grateful to you for this, but also your wallet.
