6 Things to Remember When Decorating a Storefront

April 11, 2021 by Gabe

From digital marketing to slashed prices, businesses can appeal to customers in many different ways, and for physical shops, that includes sparking the interest of walkers passing by. It takes more than a lick of paint and a single five-star Google review to bring crazy numbers through the door, though. For this reason, it’s crucial to make a storefront as appealing as possible, so if you are assigned this task, here are six things you must remember for the most success.

1: Repair First

There is no point in trying to make a broken thing look pretty. Before anything else, focus on repairing anything on the shop front that needs it. Cracked windows, wobbly doorknobs, and cracked walls should be replaced or fixed before you start placing hanging lights around the windows. Once that is complete, give the whole front of the store a deep clean for a fresh canvas to work with.

2: Include the Logo

A business should always be building its brand image, and that means including its logo on its website, emails, and, of course, the storefront. This logo will need to be a little larger than the one usually printed on paper or pasted into emails, so look for custom stencils to create the image you need in the right size. Once you have your custom stencils, you can get to work painting the logo (and whatever else you want) onto the sign outside.

3: Think About Color

Before choosing the paint color, think about what sort of aesthetic you are going for. Ideally, it would match the shop’s brand. If the shop sells flowers, for example, then it would be a good idea to paint the outside green with hints of pinks and yellows to emulate the nature that lies within the store.

4: Showcase What’s Inside

While appealing decoration is great, you should also give customers passing by a taste of what is inside in the store window. That way, a potential customer is more likely to spot something they’re interested in and then go inside the store to investigate further. Pick the most aesthetically pleasing items for the front, such as flowers, pretty cakes, or in-style outfits.

5: Use Lights

Lights are a great way to grab people’s attention, especially when it’s dark. You don’t have to install bright, blinding lights to attract people to your store; a few well-placed bulbs or a string of pretty fairy lights will do the trick. You could even install a lit-up sign!

6: Don’t Forget the Door

After all the effort put into the storefront, the last thing you want to do is forget the door. After all, this is the part customers touch and step through, so it must not be ignored. If the current door is old, consider replacing it, and make sure the material and color match the rest of the outside.

By creating a shop front that is both appealing and mimics what the business is about, more customers are likely to come through the door.
